Today we celebrated the birth of my work friend Tony by singing and eating cake. An oddly normal way to celebrate for us crazy Promotions Guys... (C'mon. "Creative" people can't always think outta the box...) Here's the birthday dude, killin' dem flames with a mighty blow.
Work friend Anna (a.k.a. Anna, This Thing Hunts All of Us) loves to bake for special occasions, and this was certainly no exception. She showed us that it takes GUTS to tackle Tony's cake request... She dropped this awesomely-decorated Guitar Hero Red Velvet Cake on the station peeps. It smelled like Rock 'n' Roll, coated with cream cheese icing.
It is also worth mentioning that the spiral candles are the same ones I bought last year to put in the Birthday Donuts I bought for Tony's b-day. They've been just sitting in my desk all year, ready and waiting to pounce into action if a celebration broke out. They did not disappoint.
She also made me a batch of GF peanut-butter & chocolate cookies, so I could celebrate and eat w/ everyone else. (She's awesome.)
Here's a terrible shot of most of the rest of the crew: Tanzi (a.k.a. Tanzi) with crazy eyes on the left, Denise on the right in the background, and Rick on the right. Witmer (of WITMER HOUSE!!! fame) is the one in the foreground...and in the background of the candle-blowing shot. He's grinning wicked-hard in both shots because he LOVES social gatherings ever so much. Seriously. LOVES THEM.
Work friend Paula (a.k.a. Paula-Power!) enjoys some cake while we force the birthday jerkwad to dole out cake for his own party.
While Tanzi looked on (hilariously posed) from the background, Abby (on the right, with the Sheetz bag) stopped in at the tail end of the festivities, but she was not late. She gave Tony his giant York Peppermint Patty, and announced that, even though his birthday "party" was being thrown a day late, she had shown up THE DAY OF HIS ACTUAL BIRTHDAY with her gift. He had selfishly taken the day off, so was not there to receive her generous gift. "When I saw it, I thought of you and got it for you," she said.
He was more than happy to get the novelty-sized candy, and quipped "Well, I'm glad that you think of me when you see huge packages." Oh, that Tony! What a scamp.
As the brief but energy-laiden crowd started to thin, The Man of the Day started scraping the yummy crumbs from the cake pan together and dumped them onto his plate. It looked like a mess, but he didn't seem to care what it looked like... he was just filling up on the love. Happy Birthday, Bro-ny. Here's to another year in the can, and many happy returns. Le’chayim!
