On May 10th, I had the honor to attend my longtime friend Kit's wedding. She married a great dude named Tim, and the week after they got hitched, they took off to live in Indiana while he pursues his Master's degree and she seeks gainful employment. (BTW: She looked absolutely beautiful and they both were wicked-happy all day.) I wish them all the luck in the world, cuz they are teh awesome. I just wish they could be teh awesome while also being closer to here, but life's crazy that way, sometimes.
And speaking of being crazy... their reception was crazy-fun. Mark and Laura were there, and so were Lizzie G. and her fiancee Greg, as well as a few high school buddies I hadn't seen in quite some time. The dinner was good, but the best and most specialest stuff was on the desert table...
Kit's mom made two large plates full of gluten-free cookies and put them out on the table with that little green label. Liz told me about it before dinner was served and I went over and grabbed a few before the disappeared. TOTALLY AWESOME of them to do this for me, at THEIR event!
After dinner was served, I went back up and grabbed a bunch more. When I showed Mark, he said, "Damn, dude. You rank!" It made me feel really great and loved. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to publicly say THANK YOU to Kit and her mom and family for the kind gesture!!
For the rest of the reception, Liz, Greg, Mark, Laura, and Julie Newb and I all kinda held back on the dancing. Kit and Tim made their obligatory rounds and I snapped this shot with the uber-newlyweds.
Our little band of buddies eventually did hit the dance floor to bust some moves. I think it was the YMCA that got us out there initially. I was yearning for some funk to kick it to, and the DJ did eventually oblige. So, yes. The Tauz got his strut on.
And possibly the highlight (or low-point, depending on your P.O.V.) for me, was when Mark and I did the "Catholic Dance" and got about 5 other people to join in with us. This is a really simple dance move that is repeated over and over to the tune of a specific >shudder< Backstreet Boys' song. We learned it from the DJ at the Diocesan social that's held after the Youth Mass on Palm Sunday in Harrisburg. It's completely ridiculous, but if you rub some attitude on it, it gets even worse.
But that's the kind of thing that people will follow, if they're just as shameless as you and your look-alike brother are. At least I know he and I had a good time. I even let my hair down for the song, just to add some unnecessary flair.
After that, I laid kinda low, chatting with Dan, her most excellent brother and good friend of mine. We shared a few laughs, as usual, and talked about how he sucks because he won't be around to help me prepare for Retreat. We also talked about how I forgive him for that, since he's in grad school and trying to better himself, yada yada yada...
All in all, a very good time and a great event. The first of the weddings during The Summer of Weddings in on the books as a complete success! And again...
CONGRATS, KIT AND TIM!!!
