Off to see the Wizard...Part 4

Now...FINALLY...nearly a month after the event...the last part of my trip to Wizard World Comic Convention in Philly with Joe and Molyneaux. I will finish it off with a photo essay titled "Molyneaux Standing Near Things". The whole point was that he wasn't standing WITH the things, nor did the things to which he was standing near realize they were being photographed 'with' Molyneaux. I know this is ridiculous, but it was highly entertaining for us. Especially trying to catch these moments before anyone got savvy to the concept and turned to pose with him. That being said, here we go.

Molyneaux Standing Near Stormtroopers


This is the one that inspired this entire series of photos. He had wandered close to the Stormtroopers and I snapped this pic. He kinda looks like he just kinda appeared there somehow and is now in deep shit. This is also the picture that is my desktop background at work right now. It makes me laugh every time I see it.

This was, I believe, a mini-city where they had posed an assload of superhero (both Marvel and DC) Mini-Mates all around to show people how cool it would be if everyone bought Mini-Mates (if everyone were a model-city-maker/owner, that is...)
**EDIT** Joe says: "The Daily Planet building was for HeroClix, not Mini-Mates. DUH."

This is the nearest any Molyneaux has ever stood to Darth Vader before. A monumental event captured for the ages.

Molyneaux Standing Near a Pseudo-Famous Quasi-Porno Chick


This was doomed from the beginning. The chick on the right was in some movies where she shows off her boobies and probably more. Molyneaux was trying to "stand near' her, but she was catching on to our setup. And then Purple Shirt Guy walks through just as I finally take the shot. This almost made the whole series Jump the Shark. Not cool, Almost-Porn Chick. Not cool.

Molyneaux Standing Near That Guy from Coheed and Cambria


One of Molyneaux's friends from work wanted him to pick up a comic by the guy from that band Coheed and Cambria. She's all about that band, but Molyneaux hates them (mostly it's that he can't get past the singer's grating voice). But, Molyneaux, being the good friend that he is, agreed to pick it up for her. He even had the guy sign it for her. I got this picture after we picked up the book from him.

They have MiniMates for everything now. Including Rain Man. This thing was a three- or four-sided piece that showed all of the different sets that are coming out soon. One was for the The Dollars Trilogy (Clint Eastwood flicks that includes The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly) and one was for Silence of the Lambs. Seriously? Molyneaux says it's A-OK.

This is sadly our best-looking attempt at catching Black Spidey unawares with Molyneaux nearby. We chased that fucker around for like, 5 minutes. Our chances were ruined by another "That Guy" and, no doubt, the dude in tights' keen Spider-Sense.

We got it: the BACK of Iron Man's costume kinda sucked, so we wanted to expose it. Molyneaux returned from standing near him and reported that "He smells sooo bad." Probably a terrifying combo of all that spray paint and all that not bathing.

Interlude


After the Con, we three geeks had arranged to meet up with my good friend Kit, who now lives in Conshohocken (near Philly). She knitted a Katamari for Clark, Joe's son, some time last year. Joe wanted to meet her and thank her for her awesome work. This trip facilitated that meeting. We all met at the Reading Something Something Market, which was directly across the street from the convention hall. The meeting was overseen by Kit's boyfriend Tim. Oh wise and mighty Tim. There was much rejoicing. (yay)
