Eight-Hour Game Night: A Photo Journey Part 1

For the last couple of years, my friends from work and I have been gathering on occasion with each other for a night of games and pizza and fun. We have come to call such occasions a "Game Night". Every so often, Joe, Tony, or I will inevitably ask the question, "Game Night?" while at work. This simple question spurs the discussion and planning for the next event. And when it was brought up last time, nobody expected it to be anything spectacular. We had no reason to believe it would be more than a few games between a few people over a few pizzas. We were mistaken about a few things...

The evening started out with a bang...and some "helicopter noises" and "funny smells, " as Melissa's (Tony's wife) tire blew out on her way home from work that night. For more on that, give this a clickaroo...

The ladies(l-r): Anna, Paula and Melissa have a civilized chat amidst the manly goings-on.

Once everything settled down with the melting tire situation, things settled into a more traditional Game Night groove. After some pizza (I brought my own gluten-free pie and used the Sadowski Oven), off we went into the gaming world. While the dudes started in with some Marvel vs. Capcom 2, the ladies reclined and chatted, as their type tend to do when the 'children' are hooting and hollering. Although, I must admit to being impressed with Melissa's button-mashing prowess when she was baited into playing a few rounds. Well done, ma'am!

Tony vs. Witmer in We Love Katamari! We are very pleased!

We soon switched over to an introductory round of We Love Katamari! because when GameMaster Joe showed Tony, Witmer and myself this unique and awesome game for the first time, we totally latched on right away. We hoped to spread the love to newcomers Anna and Paula at this Game Night. It didn't take. Apparently it's a bit too...um...weird for their tastes. Oh well. More for us.

As the Master looks on, he is proud of his eager pupils.

After a few rousing rounds of rolling, we moved onward to some Guitar Hero, both 1 & 2. These are always popular, and we usually have two axes on-hand, so as to accommodate wicked-hot 2P action.

The first of many song battles between the up-and-coming star (Paula) and the seasoned veteran (Tony)

Fun Fact: Paula raved to her husband about Guitar Hero after attending her first Game Night. Later that month, she received it as a birthday gift and now kicks ass at it. BEHOLD! THE POWER OF GAME NIGHT!

As Guitar Hero stayed in rotation on the PS2, people alternated between playing each other and some solo gigs. However, a new game was being un-boxed across the room...

ZOMBIES.

Who will survive? How do you play? What the hell is it? Who will make it home (before 3am)?What does a rogue game of rock-paper-scissors have to do with it? These questions will be answered in the next installment of...

The Night of the Un-Dying Game...uh...Night!!!

I love Part 1. It still has that "new blog entry" smell. Looking forward to photos taken after all of us went braindead (but continued gaming anyway)!
